How to crochet Christmas globes
□ crochet thread size 10
□ crochet hook size 1.00mm
□ crochet hook size 1.25mm
□ ping-pong ball
□ large sewing needle
Preparing the ping-pong ball:
Before starting to crochet, we need to make the loop which we use to hang the ornament on the Christmas tree. For this, we use the 1.00mm hook and size 10 crochet thread. Again, if the 1.00mm hook is too difficult to use, you can use the larger 1.25mm hook instead.
The steps are simple: slip knot, leaving a long tail (about 15-20 inches); then, chain until you get the desired length (keep in mind the length will be half as we will make a loop out of this chain); the length I chose was 5.5 inches (i.e. 14 cm); fasten off, leaving a long tail (about 15-20 inches).
Take the chain and tie the two ends together into a strong knot.
Thread the two ends through using the large sewing needle.
Push the needle through the center of the ping-pong ball.
Thread the two ends through the large sewing needle again.
Turn the ball and push the needle through the center opposite to the other two knots made so far. Make a tight knot using the two ends.
For more safety and durability, use the larger hook to pull the ends underneath the thread that is flush against the ball; then, tie another knot using these ends.
